FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where are your mushrooms grown?

Our organic mushrooms are proudly grown in the beautiful state of California, USA. We collaborate with local, environmentally responsible farmers who follow stringent organic and sustainable practices. This ensures that our mushrooms are the highest quality, and are cultivated without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Do your mushrooms contain the fruiting body or the mycelium?

At Herb Affair, we believe that a mushroom's health benefits are best received when consuming both the fruiting bodies and mycelium. Each of these components offers its own set of health benefits, providing you with a more complete range of nutrients and bioactive compounds. This is why we only use Full Spectrum mushrooms, which contain both of these essential parts of the mushroom.

  1. Fruiting Body:
The fruiting body is the part of the mushroom that is typically visible above ground and what most people recognize as a mushroom. Fruiting bodies are rich in beneficial compounds such as beta-glucans, triterpenes, and antioxidants. These compounds have been linked to various health benefits, including immune system support, anti-inflammatory effects, and improved cognitive function.
  2. Mycelium:
Mycelium is the underground root-like network of fungal cells that supports the growth and development of the fruiting body. While mycelium contains some of the same beneficial compounds found in fruiting bodies, it also offers additional nutrients and bioactive components that are unique to this part of the mushroom. These include enzymes, proteins, and secondary metabolites that can contribute to overall health and well-being.
Are your mushrooms tested for Beta-glucans?

Yes, every batch of mushrooms is tested for both Beta-Glucans and Alpha-Glucans. When it comes to mushrooms, it is important to find one that has a high level of beta-glucans and low levels of alpha-glucans because the majority of bio-active properties of medicinal mushrooms are credited to beta-glucans.

While the percentages do change from batch to batch, our mushrooms consistently contain around 20% or higher beta-glucans, and less than 2% alpha glucans, assuring that you are getting the most benefits possible with our mushrooms.
